Shortlisted · King’s Engaged Research Awards 2026

MORE began with peer-led listening events in Lambeth, working to understand how the maternity journey is experienced by a diverse group of south London women. That work has since grown into a full participatory Photovoice research project, shared with the public through exhibition and shaping conversations about maternity care at a university and community level.

Born from the Heart, Photos of the Soul

MORE’s photovoice exhibition shared photographs and words created by mothers, using photography and storytelling to explore experiences of pregnancy, motherhood, and maternity care. The exhibition invited visitors to look beyond clinical encounters and consider the wider realities shaping families’ lives, including work, immigration, and identity, through themes of hidden labour and finding a voice, building connection through support, and the uniqueness of every pregnancy within a shared experience of motherhood.

The exhibition was hosted at Science Gallery London, [[add exact exhibition dates]], with free entry and no booking required.
