With all three pregnancies I have had awful morning sickness. This time, I was so ill I could not eat or drink. I was in bed unable to leave the house as I was feeling so nauseous and tired. My GP was signing me off sick and prescribed some medications (all over the phone) but told me it was normal and to rest and keep hydrated! After about 6 weeks I couldn’t continue being so ill so took myself to hospital and was diagnosed with HG and needed fluids. It took 3 staff members over an hour and 9 different attempts to get a needle in as I was so dehydrated. I spent the whole day being monitored, needing an injection of anti-sickness medication and fluids but left feeling human again. I had a lovely view of parliament and wondered if the politicians understood how bad the NHS system had got where you can be that sick and the GP still doesn’t give you an appointment and everything is done over the phone even when pregnant!
